From a very young age, Cian showed an aptitude for playing music on a range of instruments, eventually deciding to pursue drums professionally.
Beginning in 2004 and whilst still in school, he embarked on playing in various bands and musical theatre productions throughout Cork. This led to Cian’s extensive experience in playing for numerous shows and events at a high level nationwide.
In 2016, Cian was chosen to fill the much sought-after position as a member of the house band for a large-scale Irish music and dance production in Disney World, Orlando, Florida.
Upon returning to Cork in 2017, he first completed his undergraduate degree from the Cork School of Music and, in quick succession, subsequently earned a first-class honours MA in Music Performance in 2019.
In addition to his third-level studies, Cian has received masterclasses from Dave Weckl, Ash Soan and Rod Quinn. Cian has performed with Finbar Wright of the Irish Tenors, supported Vieux Farka Touré at the Cork Jazz Festival, and regularly plays with local rock bands and attends jam sessions locally and on occasion, throughout Europe. Cian has been a member of the Hank Wedel band since 2024.
Cian has been teaching since 2017, both privately and at music schools including The Cork School of Music. He is passionate about tailoring lessons to each student’s individual needs and goals.
